Second Grade - Physics of Sound

In second grade the students are continuing their learning of sound. They are comparing high, low and medium pitched sounds.

Fifth Grade - Landforms

Fifth grade students completed a unit on landforms. They used a stream table to observe how water affects soil. The students learned about topographical maps and also reviewed how to read a map. At the end of the unit, they were required to make a topographical map.

Fifth Grade - Solar System

Students used a spectroscope to help them see the different colors in white light (i.e. stars). It seperates the colors which determines the size, temperature and brightness of the light.

Fifth Grade - Solar System

Students learned how to make a photometer; an instrument used to measure a star's brightness, which is related to the distance between a light source and its observer.

Third Grade - Newton's Law

Third grade did some lessons involving Sir Isaac Newton. They learned through many experiments that a body in motion stays in motion and a body at rest stays at rest. Some of them even tried pulling the tablecloth out during fancy dinners all in the name of science.

Third Grade - Animal Research

Third graders completed research on animals. They got to chose their animals according to their interest. The students were required to find out about the animal, build an accurate habitat and present the information to the class. Some students got so involved that they dressed up as their animals.

We read "Axle Annie" and made "snow". "Snow" is a polymer that becomes 300 times larger when water is added. It looks and feels like real snow except it is not cold.
